In impression abstract , my pieces are a conscious and considered process. I use contemporary systems to visually analyse minute grains of audio lasting a fraction of a second and splice many of these fragments together in a single painting.

In this way any sound is magnified repeatedly until it becomes nothing more than a single undulating line.

The pieces detailed here focus on complex ambient environments taken from field recordings in locations ranging from a cast concrete underpass to an antique industrial kiln. An impulse is fed into the space and the resulting acoustic tail is recorded. These recordings are the auditory personality of the chamber.

They're the “space left behind”.

I use the same field recordings that form the basis for my paintings and reliefs as ambient spacial effects in my audio projects. The paintings are used as covers for vinyl releases and both paintings and reliefs are recurring elements in the accompanying videos. In this way the visual language and the audio form a whole and I like to consider them in tandem.
